- Report to the OR desk at 06:45 to view the required AORN YouTube video. This allows time for changing into OR attire and video observation.
- Eat a small meal before arriving — there may not be an opportunity during observation.
- Remain quiet during induction, ensuring the patient has a positive experience.
Attire & Personal Items
- Footwear: Wear appropriate sneakers (closed-toe, non-slip recommended).
- Scrubs: Hospital-provided scrubs will be issued upon arrival. You may wear personal scrubs, but you must change into hospital scrubs before entering the OR.
- Temperature: The OR environment is kept cool. Consider wearing a long-sleeved base layer under your scrubs for warmth.
- Jacket: A disposable jacket will be provided for your use in the OR.
- Valuables: DO NOT bring valuables (wallets, jewelry, etc.) — no storage lockers are available for observers. You will carry all personal items throughout the day.
- Note-taking: If you wish to take notes, bring a small notebook and pen.
